Hi, My name is Michelle Barkley (pictured with my boyfriend, Pete). I was born on August 15, 1982 in Hanover, New Hampshire. I graduated from Lebanon High School in 2003. I like to shop, do arts and crafts, sometimes read, and play with stuffies. I also enjoy listening to Blues. One of my favorite performers is Albert Cummings. My family and I went to see him perform at the Rynborn Blues Club in March 2005. It was a night I will never forget. Another activity I enjoy doing is horseback riding. I take lessons at the Mountain Heights Equestrian Club in Vermont (www.mtheightsequestrianclub.com/). I currently volunteer at the Lebanon Senior Center (www.hanovernh.org/seniorcenter), where I talk and play games with people who go there. Two days a week I work at Encore Books in West Lebanon. I am also a member of a quilting guild and I enjoy making quilts and giving them as gifts. Pete and I like to do photography. We sometimes do a photographic scavenger hunt to give us ideas. I love going to the Mall of America (www.mallofamerica.com/about_moa.aspx) in Minnesota. The mall has an inside amusement park complete with a roller coaster and miniature golf - it is humongous. I went to Camp Snoopy which is in the mall and I met Snoopy and Lucy and Charlie Brown. Snoopy gave me a Snoopy stuffie. We also went on the Minnesota Zephyr, which is a fancy train that we had lunch on. It was elegant and romantic. If you know me and you know Becky, then it won’t surprise you that we first met in the Mall of America! I had spent more than I intend (don’t we all?) and was loaded with at least six or seven bags and I dropped one without realizing it. Becky picked up my bag and she and her mom insisted on helping me to the car. We got talking and, after loading up the car, decided to have lunch together. Becky showed a genuine interest in me and listened as I rambled on about me, me, me. We’ve been friends ever since. We write to each other at least once a week and arrange to meet up at the mall every now and again and spend the day together. I am already a Christian but Becky has taught me a lot about being a Christian by her example. |
