GOOD WORKS

Introduction

1. This is a lesson about doing good works.

2. It says in Ephesians 2:10 that we are created in Christ Jesus to do good works.

I. Christians must do good works.

A. Paul says that we are created in Christ Jesus to do good works so that is why we must do them  - Ephesians 2:10.

B. Paul told Timothy to tell people that they must be rich in good works – 1 Timothy 6:18. So that is what I am doing.

C. Jesus said that we must let people see that we do good works so that they will glorify God when they see us doing them – Matthew 5:16.

D. I think all Christians should have a reputation for doing good works - 1 Timothy 5:10.

II. So what good works must we do?

A. Jesus said He done many good works – John 10:32. So if we look at the works Jesus done then we will know what good works we are supposed to do.

B. There are lots of good works we can do.

1. We can make clothes for people like Tabitha did – Acts 9:36-39.

2. We can give food and drink to people that are hungry and thirsty – James 2:15-16.

3. I bet you can think of lots of other good works as well.

Conclusion

1. Christians must do good works because that is why God created us.

2. There are lots of good works we can do (like what I said).

3. If we do not do good works then that is no good and it means that our faith is no good…

"What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, Go in peace, be warmed and be filled, and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself" (James 2:14-17 NASBR)
