For Girls Who Want to Fulfill Their God Given Role

Introduction
1. Some of you girls have been talking about what careers you want to pursue after college haven’t you?
2. Now I am a bit worried about that because none of you have said, “Oh, what does God want me to do?” Do you want to do what God wants you to do or don’t you care what God says?
3. So this is a lesson about what God wants you girls to do. So make sure you have a Bible because that is where we are going to look to find out.
I. What God Wants Women To Do
A. God wants women to get married and set up their own home:
1. Now if we look when God created a man you will see that he was all alone and God said that was not good - Genesis 2.18. So what happened?
a. So God made the man fall asleep and while he was sleeping God took a bone from him and then he made a woman – Genesis 2.21-22.
b. God made that woman for the man to be a “helper” Genesis 2.18. So what does that mean? Look at what Gill says (You can see it yourself on your e-Sword program), “One to help him in all the affairs of life, not only for the propagation of his species, but to provide things useful and comfortable for him; to dress his food, and take care of the affairs of the family; one ‘like himself’ in nature, temper, and disposition, in form and shape; or one ‘as before him’ that would be pleasing to his sight, and with whom he might delightfully converse, and be in all respects agreeable to him, and entirely answerable to his case and circumstances, his wants and wishes”.
2. So then God brought that woman to the man and he could see how pretty she was and that she would be a helper for him – Genesis 2.22.
a. So God made them husband and wife – Genesis 2.23.
b. That is what God wants for everyone. Look what God says, "For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh" (Genesis 2:24 NASBR).
B. God wants women to have children:
1. Now after God made man and women God said He wanted them to have lots of children – Genesis 1.28. That is why God made the world – Isaiah 45.18.
2. And those children are a blessing from God – Psalms 127.3.
C. God wants women to run the house while the men are out working:
1. Men have to go out to work – Genesis 2.15; 3.17-19.
2. Well, someone has to look after the children so that is what women must do – 1 Timothy 2.15; 5.14.
3. Now you girls should read what Proverbs says as well. Look what it says…
"An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, And he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil All the days of her life. She looks for wool and flax And works with her hands in delight. She is like merchant ships; She brings her food from afar. She rises also while it is still night And gives food to her household And portions to her maidens. She considers a field and buys it; From her earnings she plants a vineyard. She girds herself with strength And makes her arms strong. She senses that her gain is good; Her lamp does not go out at night. She stretches out her hands to the distaff, And her hands grasp the spindle. She extends her hand to the poor, And she stretches out her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of the snow for her household, For all her household are clothed with scarlet. She makes coverings for herself; Her clothing is fine linen and purple. Her husband is known in the gates, When he sits among the elders of the land. She makes linen garments and sells them, And supplies belts to the tradesmen. Strength and dignity are her clothing, And she smiles at the future. She opens her mouth in wisdom, And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and bless her; Her husband also, and he praises her, saying: Many daughters have done nobly, But you excel them all. Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised. Give her the product of her hands, And let her works praise her in the gates" (Proverbs 31:10-31 NASBR)
a. So God wants you girls to get married, have children, and run the house.
b. Now there are lot more things to talk about but you can see what God wants you to do can’t you?
II. What You Need To Do Now
A. Now you girls are very young so you are not getting married yet are you? So you will probably get married when you are 25 or something like that. So you will have to live with your parents until you get married.
B. But there are lots of things you can do to make sure you will be a good wife and a good mom.
1. Things you can learn:
a. Now God wants you to have children, so you will need to learn how you come to have babies. But I think you know about that already. It is not easy to have babies you know! – Genesis 3.16.
b. You will need to learn how to cook for your husband and children – Proverbs 31.15.
c. Men are different from women, so you will have to learn how to make your husband happy or you might just end up arguing all the time and being unhappy – Proverbs 31.12; 1 Corinthians 7.34.
d. So how do you bring up children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord? That is what you will have to learn how to do – Ephesians 6.4.
e. You will need to learn about managing money won’t you?
2. So how are you going to learn all those things?
a. A lot of things you learn at school are good for being a good wife.
b. You need to study your Bible and see what it says.
c. You need to ask the older women to teach you about those things and that is what they are supposed to do – Titus 2.3-5.
Conclusion
1. You girls keep talking about what YOU want to do all the time but you should be asking, “What does God want me to do?”
2. God wants you girls to get married, have children, and run the house.
3. So, now you know what God wants you to do, you should be learning about being married, raising children, and running a home.
