Stand in the truth and do right to keep you in the way

Now this will take some courage so practice every day

The word of God will build you and strengthen you each day

And you will find the courage to stand firm in the way

The shield of faith will guard you against the Devil’s sway

Now faith it comes by hearing so study every day

God’s word will give the increase and keep you in the way

So always keep it near you and you won’t go astray

For shoes put on the gospel and be prepared to preach

Don’t keep it from your neighbors, don’t be ashamed to speak

The gospel must be taken to all both near and far

So always take it with you and preach it where you are

Rejoice in your salvation and keep your hope alive

And through the Devil’s onslaughts I know you will survive

So wear it in the battle ‘gainst foes of every kind

Salvation is your helmet to guard your heart and mind

Now you don’t go to battle without a sword to fight

So take God’s word and go forth and fight with all your might

The sword of God is powerful and deals a deadly blow

So take it into battle and fight against your foe

You’ll never win the battle if in your strength you trust

For God supplies the armor and trust in Him you must

So when the Devil tempts you just turn to God in prayer

He’ll never let him tempt you no more than you can bear
